PAR COURSE B: LABOR QUESTIONS

"Par Course B: Labor Questions" began with a list of questions that formed a kinetic poem — positioned atop six stanchions, splitting a hallway of the Hyde Park Art Center. As an initial address to the community who walks these halls, it also formed an exercise used for our first day of workshops with young people who are part of the Youth Art Board at the Center. From these questions, developed with these young people in relation to the question, "what is the labor of a strong community," we eventually pushed these stanchions against the wall as a frame for the five movement-thought exercises we built together, each one a "Community Labor Exercise."
